I wanted to take pictures of flowers where I am in control, not the wind, not the bright sunshine, or other external factors.
One Saturday, I went to Salcedo Park to buy a bunch of flowers for about P250. The variety of flowers in the bunch are interesting so I took the shots shown below.
I shot these where I have a black illustration board as the background about 4 feet away. I tried white, but black background gave the photos a better result. The natural light was coming from the window on the left of the subject. The thin curtain acts as a diffuser. The other source of light is a pair of fluorescent light directly over, but not pointed to the subject.
The lens used was the AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 mounted on my D40. No flash on all shots, and ISO was set to 200, aperture priority at f/5.6 or f/9. The D40 was mounted on my cheap Giottos video tripod and set to 5 seconds timer.
